Book Review
I've been meaning to try the recipes out of this book for a few weeks now. We finally tried the chicken nuggets the other day. I nearly tossed out the book without trying anything else. I don't know how gullible Jessica Seinfeld's kids are, but there was NO hiding the sweet potato layer under the breading. It tasted kind of pasty to me.
Next I tried the sloppy joes recipe. What a surprise, it actually tasted pretty good! I would make one change and use 2 cans of tomato paste instead of the one called for. It needs more tomato flavour (like Manwich). I would also shred the carrots, instead of chopping -they didn't cook enough and were too obvious.
Yesterday was the chili. Eh, it was chili :) My recipe is definitely better. Also, definitely needs more cooking after putting in the kidney beans. No one wants too firm, odd tasting beans.
One change I did make was to use ground beef in both of these recipes. We're not afraid to eat red meat :) Besides, ground chicken and such are expensive at our stores.
